Class Evaluation

Class Evaluation

1.The things I like about this class are, one that we get to use computers, I get to learn new things about the computers and how to use them. Another thing I like about this class is that we are able to do things that have a little of our personality in them for example the blog posts most of them are about our opinions and how we feel about certain things.

2. What I do not like about this class are that we almost always do the same thing whenever we come to this class. Having to do the same thing each time we come to this class gets tiring and boring .
3. A recommendation I would consider is to change it up a bit trying adding more things that are different, instead of making us do the same thing each class.

4. The highlight for me in this class is my weebly account. I enjoyed being able to fix it and making a website my own. It made feel "cool" because I think I have done a very good job on. Choosing photos for it was the most fun and writing about my favorite artists was also fun.

5. I believe I did do my best in this class. I did all the necessary work that we had to do in order to pass the class and that was one of the main things I had to focus on to get a good grade.

6. Yes I do read my life planning and sharpening the saw parts of my journal. From this class I have learned that it is very important to read and write down your goals. Writing down and reading my goals has definitely helped me keep myself together. My life planning journal reminds me what I have do and that I do want to be successful in the future.

7. Yes, I am committed to being a CTR person. I am committed to seeking personal development, because I know that in order to succeed I have to better myself.

10 Keys to Personal Power

10 Keys to Personal Power

Brian Tracy
briantracy.com

Key 1: Clarity
Clarity to me means, to have what you want in life already set in your mind and you know what path you have to take in order to get there. Clarity also means to have a good vibe around you, don't have cancerous people around you. Those cancerous people will act like a cloud they will block you from your set goal in life. Try your hardest to avoid these people. Try your hardest to avoid situations that will steer you another direction. The three main reasons people do not have clarity in life is Confusion, Distraction, and Disorganization. Confusion is solved by getting your priorities straight. Distraction is solved by getting better at focusing your attention and not worrying about unnecessary things.
Disorganization is solved by throwing out distractions and tending to the important things first.

Key 2: Competence Competence means the ability to do something successfully or efficiently. This key to me means that every time you do something you have to do it at your very best. On the first day of junior year my English teacher told the class that we had to promise to do our best work in her class. Competence is not only for school or work. It can also be for any hobby or goal you have, when trying to achieve it work your hardest towards that. A quote that I believe is good for competence is

"Good, better, best, never ever rest, until your good is better, and your better is best"

Key 3: Concentration Concentration is a key. Concentration is the ability to focus without getting distracted by any thoughts, noises or anything else. Concentration helps you Control of your thoughts, gain inner peace, free your mind from annoying thoughts, improve your memory, improve your ability to study focus and conserve your energies, work more efficiently, improve meditation,
and much more. Some exercises to help you concentrate can be as little as counting the words in a paragraph more than once without getting distracted. After you have mastered a paragraph then move onto 2 paragraphs then move onto possibly a whole page in a book.

Key 4: Common Sense means to have good judgement. People often think its better to have knowledge but without common sense your attitude and personality fail. Without common sense you will sometimes even seem dumb to others. Common sense sometimes means to be creative other than using facts and your knowledge. Common sense the ability to learn from experience and then to apply those lessons to other experiences. Common sense is to know something that is very obvious, there is nothing new about it because you have done it before. Lots of people ignore their common sense and do not realize how dumb it makes them look. It is a good thing to have common sense.

Key 5 Creativity: To have creativity is a major key because to have creativity can make you unique in any way. Almost every person has something unique about themselves its up to them or yourself to find that uniqueness in you. Once you find that thing that makes you unique its like bringing
something new into this world. Being creative requires being passionate and committed. Committed to using that creativeness throughout your life. Whats the point of having something unique about yourself if you are not going to use it.

Key 6 Consideration:
"The quality of your relationships with other people will determine your success in life."
To me consideration means being open minded and listening to what others have to say and you try to see there point of view. To have consideration I believe is something that shows you are a good listener. Sometimes having consideration lets you make new relationships with people. Having consideration means to have thought about others. You can be considerate to someone when they are having a tough time in there life that's when people need others the most.

Key 7 Consistency:  To be consistent is a very good quality because consistency means to always do something your best and to always keep it that way. A person who is consistent never lowers there capability they always try to do something at there best. They give it their all. A person who is consistent is stable they know what they want and what to do in order to get there. Although consistency is very hard for some people to get hard work and always making sure you try your best to stay consistent will make it much easier in the long run.

Key 8 Commitment: " No success is possible without commitment. The ability to commit yourself whole heartily is the basis of achieving all success." Commitment is key because if you want something you have to do all things possible to do it. You also stay committed when you joins things such as sports, you have to keep up with grades while, making sure you go to practice everyday. Staying committed means sticking to it and continuing. Being committed to something means you are willing to give it your all, you are loyal to that one thing and you give it all your energy

Key 9 Courage: " The fear of failure is the single greatest reason for failure in life"
To have courage means to not be afraid of failure and like the quote above says being afraid to fail is one of the biggest failures in life. That being because if someone is afraid of failing they usually do not go after what they wanted in the first place. One needs to have courage because without it you will not succeed. If you want to tryout for a sport go for it do not be scared to try, even if you think you will not make it. Passion is the heart of courage it depends how bad you want something, if you are willing to give it your all in order to succeed even knowing that you might not. Ask yourself would you rather go for something knowing that you tried and maybe even possibly succeed at whatever it is, than having to think about what if ? just because you did not at least try and having to live with that the rest of your life.

Key 10 Confidence: "You only get confidence by doing things over and over again"
Confidence is a very good thing to have because without confidence you do not have courage and without courage you will possibly fail. Confidence is being able to do the things you want and not worrying about anybody else's negative opinions. Self-confidence is extremely important in almost every aspect of our lives. Being willing to take risks and go the extra mile to achieve better things. Good self-confidence also means being able to take compliments for example if somebody says " Hey I have noticed you are looking healthier" and your response " thank you I have been working hard at trying to better myself"'
Reflection: These 10 keys to personal power benefit me because they tell me what is important in order for me to succeed. With these 10 keys I learn how to be confident and courageous. With those 2 things I know I will be able to succeed because those 2 keys eventually lead to the others. By learning these keys I have learned new ways to live my life and not let anything get in my way.

Video Summary: 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

The video spoke about how Dr.Covey made the 7 Habits. He talked about how to find yourself and how to find your character and personality. Character ethic and personality ethic . Character ethic depends on deep changes within yourself. Personality ethic is ideas that a person advances on bases of their characteristics. Dr. Covey talks about character development and to make yourself a better person. One way is to  be truthful he uses Gahndi as an example. Gahndi did not help another person because how can help if he himself was doing the same thing.

Recruiting Process

Recruiting Process

I plan to play softball so the recruiting process has begun. I have received emails from coaches that have invited me to college combines. These college combines are so far so I don't believe I will be able to end and that really disappoints me because these are very big opportunities that I sadly will not be able to take advantage of. My main position is 3rd base but I can also play any other position other than catcher. I believe I would be a great candidate for a college but in order for that to happen I must stay focused on my hard work. I hope I would be able to attend a college as well as play softball for that college. My dream come true would be to play for UCLA, not only will I be making my parents proud but I would also be making my self proud.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Habit #1 Be Proactive: Being Proactive is about taking responsibility for your life. Instead of reacting to or worrying about others, in you which you have little to no control, proactive people focus their time and energy on things they can control. People who are not proactive usually blame there problems on others around them. Usually it'll be people like their parents or close loved ones. A proactive person uses positive language, they try to motivate themselves as much as possible. A person who is not proactive is not positive nor confident instead they try to bring themselves down and try to make excuses into why they cannot do something. Gaining an awareness of the areas in which we waste our energies in is a giant step in becoming proactive this means focusing your efforts on things you can do, other than focusing on things you know you will never really be able to achieve/accomplish.
Habit #2 Begin with the End in Mind: I believe this means that when you are about to do something whether good or bad always think about the consequences. Especially when you do something bad, you must always think about the consequences. You may be hurting someone or you may even be hurting yourself. It is always good to think about the end result. Try visualizing who you are and what you want in life. Begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of what you want at the end and how you want it. After you have done that try your hardest to get that result. It focuses your mind on what you want to be and do. This habit helps you pan out your goals and also achieve them.

Habit #3 Put First Things First: This means that you must put priorities first. Do what is important in the beginning save what is not a priority till last. If you do what is not important in the beginning you will surely regret it. If you call it a "priority" then it is important and you have to set yourself a time to do it. Set up a schedule be time wise. Know how to manage time. It's not only about the present but about life management things like your purpose, values, roles, and priorities.

Habit #4 Think Win-Win: To win-win means to get what you want by being both nice and tough. You are not more of either one. To think win-win makes you somewhat mature it makes you have the courage to speak out and be competitive. Win-Win also means to be fair with other find a compromise for both you and the other person. Then it will be a fair fight or a fair win when both of you know neither one of you put more work into whatever it was you were doing.

Habit #5 Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood: To be highly effective you have to know how to understand people. It's good to have an open mind about people opinions. If you open up your mind you will better have an understanding as into why people think what they think. Most people want to get their points across first. And in doing so, you might ignore the other person completely, pretend that you're listening, and you might not know it but you may be selectively listening which means you're only listening to the parts that you want to listen to.

Habit #6 Synergize : To synergize means to work together. It means to work collaboratively with others. To work well with others is a very good thing because it means you have team work skills. In almost any job you have to know how to work with others. Working well with others means you work together and out your ideas together when needed, You find ways to finish a task where both or more have to each put in work. You also know how to keep it fair so that no one person has more work then the other.

Habit #7 Sharpen The Saw: I believe to "Sharpen the Saw" means to make sure you have everything in order before you do something big. By that I mean that let's say you are taking a big step in your life before you take that big step make sure that you are very well prepared to the changes that are going to occur in your life. After taking a big step you have to prepared for the major changes that come your way. You have to be prepared mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Reflection:  The 7 Habits are very good for your life they teach you how to make your life better. They teach you how to be prepared for whatever comes your way. The 7 habits not only teach you how to be effective by yourself but also how to be effective with other people. They say to synergize which means to work collaboratively with others. The 7 habits tell you and teach you to prioritize, to put what is most important first. The last thing that really stood out to me was "Begin with the end in mind"  always think about the end when doing something. Think about the end because you must know if whatever you are doing has a good result or bad result.

              Tips to remember people’s names

              Tips to remember people’s names

A few exercises you can practice to help remember names are:
              1)  Focus on the other person
              2) Trust Yourself
              3)  Create an image associated with the person
              4)  If the other person’s name is difficult to pronounce, this is a time to ask if you are pronouncing it correctly. You want the other person to know that you care enough to get it right.
              5) End the conversation by using his or her name again.]
              6)  Have your full attention on the other person when speaking to them. Be aware that the most common reason for not remembering names is actually very simple. It is usually because you're not actively listening, or not paying adequate attention.
              7) Lastly if you happen to forget a name don't worry about it just say “I am so sorry, I know we have met, but I seem to have forgotten your name.”

So far my day has gone pretty bad. In first period I dropped milk on my pants and as I am currently typing this I am also waiting for my dad to bring me pants. I hope my day goes better later on. I hope I'm not clumsy during lunch and have the same accident.

How to Win Friends and Influence People

How to Win Friends and Influence People

Six Ways to Make People Like you. If you want people to like you.........

Rule 1: Become Genuinely interested in other people.
To become genuinely interested in other people I believe means that when you make a friend do not just be friends with them because you want to seem cool that you hangout with them. If you are going to be friends with someone then you have to understand them, you have to have things in common with them. You have to know how to keep a conversation going, you have to be able to listen to them without getting bored.
"The more one does and sees and feels, the more one is able to do, and the more genuine may be one's appreciation of fundamental things like home, and love, and understanding companionship." Amelia Earheart

              Rule 2: Smile

To smile is a good thing. Smiling at someone can make you seem a 100x more nice. Some people don't make any friends because they never smile. Friends often say "when I first met you i was afraid of talking to you because you had a mean face on" imagine how many people have not came up to talk you just because of that. How many possible friends you have lost just because you do not smile. Facts are that smiling is contagious, smiling gets you promoted meaning it makes you 100x more attractive, it makes it seem easier for other people to approach you. Not only does smiling make it easier for other people but it is known that if you force yourself to smile when you're sad you can elevate your mood.
"A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside." Denis Waitley
              Rule #3 Remember Names:

To remember names is a good thing. People will sometimes be surprised if you remember their names. If you remember names people will know that you were actually listening to them and that you had an interest in them. Knowing a persons name can change the way someone feels about you. Lots of people have a hard time remembering names but don't sweat it.
A few exercises you can practice to help remember names are:
              1) Focus on the other person
              2) Trust Yourself
3)Create an image associated with the person
and lastly if you happen to forget a name don't worry about it just say “I am so sorry, I know we have met, but I seem to have forgotten your name.”
Rule #4 Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
Being a good listener can make you a great person. People will start to notice that you are hooked to the conversation and that will make you 100x more attractive. Once you encourage others they will also start to notice that you are a supportive friend. They will also start to support you, supportive friends are the best because they support in the good and the bad, But supportive also know when to say that something you are about to do is not good.
"Instead of being critical of people in authority over you and envious of their position, be happy you're not responsible for everything they have to do. Instead of piling on complaints, thank them for what they do. Overwhelm them with encouragement and appreciation!" Joyce Meyer
Rule 5: Talk in terms of the other man's interest
"The royal road to a man's heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most."

People will always have something in which they really

love. Something in which they really care about.
Rule #5 Talk in Terms of the other man's interest.
"The royal road to a man's heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most."

People will always have something in which they really love. Something in which they really care about. So if people try to talk about there favorite thing let them talk about it. Have respect for what other people have to say, because when its your turn to talk they will have respect for you. The other person will also see that you are interested in what they have to say and that will make you more attractive.

Rule #6 Make the other person  feel important-and do it sincerely
To me this means to be genuinely interested in a person. If you really do find interest in them then show it and make them feel important. If you do not find interest in them then don't be mean about it and don't lie and tell them things they want to hear just to hear it. Try to be as kind as possible. Making people feel important is a good thing because it makes the other person feel as if someone really cares, and it makes them feel like they matter. The quote below shows that making others feel important is good because if you are truly their friend then that is what you are supposed to do make them feel important.
"Friends can help each other. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself - and especially to feel. Or, not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That's what real love amounts to - letting a person be what he really is."Jim Morrison
Reflection: These six different tips can help you make friends. They not only help you make friends but also help you keep your current friends. To me this just made me realize that not only do other people use these ways but I also do but I had never realized till now that they are put into words in front of me. These six ways can not only help you make friends but they can also help you land jobs, get special opportunities given to you because of way you act with others. These six ways can also help you make feel good about yourself, they night make you seem more confident, they can make you a good person, a good friend. One of the rules is to smile more not only will this make people like you but it will make you feel better.

              Reflection:

I have heard lots about Columbia University and it is a great school not just in the medical field but in lots of fields. President Obama transferred to Columbia University after attending Occidental University in Los Angeles. So it must be a great school. Although I believe Columbia University is a great school, I do not believe it is the school for me. Therefore I would not apply to it nor would I want to go there.

              Reflection:
If I were to be wanting to go into any medical field I would want to go to this University because they have lots to offer. They offer different areas of study and they offer lots of degree options. I would like to attend this University because I do not want to stay in my same community when I go to college I would like to head to a totally new environment.
